Camino ’24: Day 2

My feet hurt.

Yesterday I welcomed the Camino back into my life. Today, the Camino welcomed us back, by giving us it’s signature treatment when it comes to muscle and lower body pain.

The day was warm and my feet were constantly sweating and at high temperature. Laura fared better on that front, but had other types of pain to contend with.

The result was that it took us 11 hours to cover 25 km, with only a few major ups-and-downs. The road itself had some horrible parts, alongside a major national carrettera (road).

We also had a lot of beautiful moments, however, with beautiful sights and the ocean keeping us company. We even met with Helmut again, briefly in the morning. He didn’t look in great shape to be honest, but he kept on walking. There’s a lesson to be learned there.

We also met a lot of interesting birds and farm animals, which didn’t help with our pace (I like to take pictures of them).

Eventually we arrived in the small town of Islares, where we found a small hotel and had a quite filling dinner, full of fish and other good stuff.

Even cows love the ocean

Today we felt the burden of the walk. I even realized I earned a small blister on my right foot. It’s in an annoying position, at the back of my fifth and smallest finger, but still somehow bearable.

I’m more concerned about the laundry situation, however, as our clothes are not drying quickly enough.

In any case, it’s 11.15 PM and we need to go to bed. Tomorrow is another day, and I hope we’ll be able to walk without too many issues.

Cheers.
