Solid day today. We did our 20+ km stage without any significant issue, which feels like great news.
It ain’t much, but it’s honest work.
We started off well with a good breakfast at our albergue. Strategically, it featured some coffee for Laura. You could definitely tell she was walking better today after that.
The stage was not difficult, with few ups and downs. The weather was cloudy and rain was forecasted throughout the late morning, but it never really materialized, save for a few drops every now and then. Excellent weather for walking.
We had an excellent tortilla and bocadillo con jamón y queso at around 10.30 AM, which fueled us all the way to Villalba, our destination for the day.
After checking in at our hotel, we managed to book everything we needed to get to Santiago, which was a relief considering how difficult it was to find accommodation on the seaside.
Considering we are around 130 km away from Santiago, we’ve split our stages in a conservative way, never walking more than 30 km in a single stage.
We feel better now and believe we can push a 25 km stage, if our knees agree with us.
Tonight we are taking it easy. Hopefully we’ll finally manage to get some pulpo a la feira which I’ve been looking forward to for 11 years now.
It would be a good way to celebrate a good day on the Camino, especially if paired with an Estrella Galicia from the tap to wash it down.
Time to go on that important mission now.
Cheers.
